Exploring Russia's Environmental History and Natural Resources

This is the name of an international network of environmental historians funding by the Leverhulme network for three years from July 2013.

The network is made up of specialists at British, American and Russian institutions and is conducting multidisciplinary research into key aspects of the environmental history and natural resources of lands that have come under Russian rule over a long time period and in a global comparative perspective.

In 2013 the Network visited the Volkhov Hydroelectric Power Station near St Petersburg and also the Solovetskii islands in the White Sea.

In 2015 they will be visiting Lake Baikal, including the Barguzin Zapovednik, the Ushkanyi islands and Olkhon island.
