You and your research (brief description)
I'm interested in senses of place, identity and how they are shaped and change over time. While most of my work has been on 19th century Russian literature and visual culture, I'm working now on a project that looks at holy springs in the Orel region. I'm interested in the history of the springs, but also in their meanings for contemporary Russians.
