Position
ANR Researcher (CNRS contract)

Research Topic, region and time period (one line)
Environmental conflicts, water policy and heritage building (patrimonialization) in the Upper Volga Region (lake Seliger especially) after 1945

You and your research (brief description)
In this book-length research I look at the interactions between environmental conflicts related to water as a resource in a broad sense (including landscapes and fish) and the development of mass tourism, but also the patrimonialization of nature in the late Soviet period, in a transnational perspective. Focusing on a small-scale territory (lake Seliger and its region, but also the Volga river from its source to the city of Tver/Kalinin) helps to understand national and global (international) processes in which the Soviet Union (and Russia as a nation or a space) played an important role: protection of wetlands and World heritage-building especially.
